It's a.....!!!!

Today was the big day we've been waiting for since we found out we were pregnant: the day we found out the gender of our Little Bit. Although the gender has been in existence since the day the egg was fertilized, we only now, after about 20 weeks of waiting, found out. And the truth is...

IT'S A GIRL!!!!!!

And we couldn't be happier! The reality is, that the ultrasound COULD be wrong, and Little Bit could be a boy rather than a girl, but we've got 99% certainty that our Little Bit is of the female gender. In fact, the ultrasound technician assured us, 100%, that she is a girl, because she was being so cooperative. Additionally, the technician had worked in high-risk OB for more than 10 years, and she said that since she finds holes in baby's hearts that are only a millimeter or two big, she can certainly tell the difference between the male and female anatomy!

Of course, all this begs the question, "So what's the name going to be?" And in response to that question, I will reference the blog post we did weeks ago when we found out we were pregnant: Just a Little Bit Francl. We do have a couple of names picked out, but we are not willing to broadcast them for all to read, because, let's face it - we're so good at picking out names, we know you'd only want to steal them if you knew how great they are! :) We're not being super secretive, but we're also not posting them on the blog, so you'll just have to keep wondering - unless, of course, you see us or email us or talk to us on the phone in which case we'll be so excited we won't be able to keep it to ourselves!

Until now, the general consensus has been that I've been carrying a girl. For all you who thought that, it turns out you thought right! And for those few of you who were holding out for a boy, well, you were not right this time. But who knows about next time! (Though next time won't be for a while...)

All this said, we do plan on taking both a pink and a blue outfit to the hospital, just in case. But for now, it's a relief to have the disambiguation of being able to use "she" in conversation rather than "the baby" or "it." Now, our Little bit is coming, we couldn't be happier, and she will join our family in about 20 weeks!
