A friend indeed

This weekend, we had the pleasure of having Ryan in town. Ryan and Chase and I go way back - we all went to high school together, and Ryan and Matt (who couldn't make it out for the weekend) were co-best men in our wedding. We met up with Ryan on Saturday afternoon and met a few of his friends from a summer he spent at Focus on the Family.

We started the afternoon at the Smithsonian's Air and Space museum, where we discovered that Ryan actually had a namesake there - it was painted on the tail of the Spirit of the St. Louis: "Ryan."

After taking in all the exhibits about airplanes and space travel, we ended up in the simulation area where Chase and Ryan and Rick and Becky were all brave enough to attempt to fly fighter planes. I saw the simulators doing barrel rolls and demurely (read that as "wisely") declined. Chase and Rick shot down 3 enemy planes in 1 round through the simulator, while Ryan and Becky ALMOST got 1 in 2 rounds through the simulator. Perhaps they all pursued the right careers and wisely avoided being pilots.

We ended the day with some great Italian food over by George Washington Unviersity's campus and drinks at a place over by DuPont Circle. A great weekend with great friends! Thanks for coming to visit Ryan!
