A night to forget

Saturday was a great day. We spent it with two great friends, we found a place to live for the next year, we found a bunch of really great clothes on sale for my new job!

Saturday night STUNK! Emilia and I had been shopping at the mall when we unsuspectingly came out to discover a flat tire at 8:30pm. No big deal, right? We're both farm girls who've changed more than one tire in our lives. We get the lug nuts loosened, the car jacked up and tug on the tire. It doesn't budge. At all. Not even a smidge.

Two hours and 45 minutes later a cab driver drops Emilia and I off outside our place. We were filthy, covered in oil and dirt, and the stupid tire had won. We'd tried kicking, beating, hitting, pulling, pushing, greasing, oiling, tugging, and yanking that stupid tire, but it was rusted on there and going nowhere. Eventually we'd called a tow truck only to call it off when we realized we'd gotten a flat about 100 yards from Sears's Auto Center. The night mall cop suggested we leave the car there over night and move it to Sears in the morning - thank goodness for that! It saved us towing costs.

When we got home, I dumped out my purse to discover that I didn't know where my phone was... and still don't. At least we'd been paying for phone insurance, so a replacement phone is in the mail on its way to me. Now if only the UPS man would actually LEAVE it for me...
